Just as I prayed for this election, and just as I pray for President Bush, it is also so important that I pray for our president elect, Barack Obama. God has placed him in this place of authority over us come January. But God is not gone or distant. He listens to the prayers of His people.God has commanded us to honor our leaders. He asks us to pray for our leaders. And I will be. Here are just a few of the prayer requests I have for our soon-to-be president.
1. I pray that God would soften Obama's heart and lead him to a genuine and saving relationship with Christ. (I do realize that Obama calls himself a Christian, but he also says that there are many ways to God. Christ has clearly said otherwise. And I believe everything else will follow from this one answered prayer.)
2. I pray that God would change Obama's heart on the abortion issue, that Obama would come to see that these tiniest of babies are God's precious innocent children and offer them the love and protection God desires for them. (You can read about what Obama has planned in this area at Jill Stanek's blog.Yea, we really do need to keep this in prayer.)
3. I pray for God's hand of protection on Obama and his family.
4. I pray that God would grant Obama wisdom, and that Obama would lead accordingly. (God's wisdom... not man's, which I believe Obama has already. But man's wisdom is folly.)
5. I pray that God would lift up righteous advisers around Obama, to give him wise counsel.
6. I pray to bind all evil that would rise against Obama and seek to influence and manipulate him.
7. I pray that our nation will enjoy God’s peace and blessing during the Obama administration. Paul taught us to pray for all in authority “so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity."
8. Finally, I pray God's Will be done in the White House and in our country. May God bless America.

Elizabeth told me that our pastor prayed for Obama at church yesterday along the same lines as you outlined in your post. You did a great job. I plan on printing it out to use for my prayer time over the next 4 years....
Oh!! I am getting a chuckle out of my word verification. It's ovalsins...Oval Sins. Funny!! No, I don't think it's a word from God or a sign. It's just ironic. :o)
