Aborting Babies to Choose Gender Legal in Sweden

What a sad, sad world we live in. And once again, Sweden has chosen to walk the path of the godless. Sweden is often the model country for those seeking socialism in our nation or "progressive" ideas. But this is the way of the progressive movement. My heart cries as yet another nation takes yet another step down the road of death.

We must be vigilant.. praying.. speaking out.. standing with God and the unborn and our Constitution... we must not allow this "progression" to continue in our nation. We need to continually stand to stop the march of godless ideology in our nation.

Sweden Rules "Gender-based" Abortions Legal
http://www.thelocal.se/19392/20090512/
The Local reported in February that a woman from Eskilstuna in southern Sweden had twice had abortions after finding out the gender of the child.

The woman, who already had two daughters, requested an amniocentesis in order to allay concerns about possible chromosome abnormalities. At the same time, she also asked to know the foetus's gender.

Doctors at Mälaren Hospital expressed concern and asked Sweden’s National Board of Health and Welfare (Socialstyrelsen) to draw up guidelines on how to handle requests in the future in which they "feel pressured to examine the foetus’s gender" without having a medically compelling reason to do so.

The board has now responded that such requests and thus abortions can not be refused and that it is not possible to deny a woman an abortion up to the 18th week of pregnancy, even if the foetus's gender is the basis for the request.

The Holy Father Clearly Lays Out That Life Begins at Conception to Pelosi on her Visit

I must say, this is EXACTLY what I was hoping would happen. I have had enough of leaders saying they are Catholic but pro-choice and that the church has no firm stand on this issue. Puuulllleeease. I am not Catholic, but went to Catholic schools growing up and the Catholic church has ALWAYS been clear on this issue.

I was surprised when I heard Pelosi, who wants to pass FOCA and expand abortion widely, was arrogant enough to think that she could have an audience with the Pope and still be able to hold to this view. I am glad the Pope made this clear.

I WAS hoping that there would be a stronger statement about consequences. I would love to have heard a comment like from various American Cardinals and Bishops that acting on FOCA would lead to excommunication. It may have been said.. but it was not made clear in the press release.

LifeSiteNews reports:

VATICAN CITY, February 18, 2009 (LifeSiteNews.com) - The Vatican Press Office released a note this morning detailing part of the conversation which Pope Benedict XVI had with Nancy Pelosi, the Speaker of the House of Representatives. Vatican insiders inform LifeSiteNews.com that such releases are always phrased in diplomatic language and thus the correction of the Speaker who fancies herself a faithful Catholic despite her abortion advocacy can be taken as a rebuke.

The text of the note reads: “His Holiness took the opportunity to speak of the requirements of the natural moral law and the Church’s consistent teaching on the dignity of human life from conception to natural death which enjoin all Catholics, and especially legislators, jurists and those responsible for the common good of society, to work in cooperation with all men and women of good will in creating a just system of laws capable of protecting human life at all stages of its development.”

Life at Conception Act to go before Congress

I found this at a wonderful pro-life blog. I have included the first part of the blog entry below. You can read the rest at The Quick and the Dead. I am so grateful for all those who continue the good fight!

In an attempt to protect the unborn by resolving the question of when life begins, U.S. Sens. Jim Inhofe, (R-Okla.), Roger Wicker (R-Miss.), Sam Brownback (R-Kan.), Tom Coburn (R-Okla.), Jim DeMint (R-S.C.), Mike Enzi (R-Wyo.), Mel Martinez (R-Fla.), John Thune (R-S.D.), David Vitter (R-La.), and George Voinovich (R-Ohio), have re-introduced the
Life at Conception Act, legislation that declares that life begins at conception and the unborn to be “persons” under the 14th Amendment to the Constitution.

Sen. Roger Wicker, said: “In Roe v. Wade the Supreme Court refused to define when life begins, thus delegating this determination to the legislative branch. This legislation clearly defines that life begins at the moment of conception, a belief that is commonly held by most Americans and is something science has long proven.”

Sen. Jim DeMint said, “We must defend innocent, unborn children and extend to them the same rights of ‘life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness’ enjoyed by every American, as set forth in the Declaration of Independence and protected by our Constitution.”

Sen. Mel Martinez said, “This effort is about fostering a culture of life, where every life is considered sacred, every child is celebrated, and life at all stages is given the dignity that it deserves.”

Political Cartoon ~ Message to the World's Unborn

The Vatican Speaks Out ~ Disappointment in Obama

There is one issue that I look to the Catholic Church with a special measure of respect, and that is the issue of abortion. While so much of the world and nation is silent, while other churches quietly stand by with only occasional comment, the Vatican and the Catholic Church remain ever vigilant.

Vatican criticizes Obama on abortion issue

VATICAN CITY – Vatican officials said Saturday they were disappointed by President Barack Obama's decision to end a ban on federal funding for international groups that perform abortions or provide information on them.

Monsignor Rino Fisichella, who heads the Vatican's Pontifical Academy for Life, urged Obama to listen to all voices in America without "the arrogance of those who, being in power, believe they can decide of life and death."

Fisichella said in an interview published Saturday in Corriere della Sera that "if this is one of President Obama's first acts, I have to say, in all due respect, that we're heading quickly toward disappointment."

Obama signed an executive order that ended the ban on Friday, reversing the policy of the Bush administration.

"This deals a harsh blow not only to us Catholics but to all the people across the world who fight against the slaughter of innocents that is carried out with the abortion," another top official with the Academy for Life, Monsignor Elio Sgreccia, told the ANSA news agency.

"Among the many good things that he could have done, Barack Obama instead chose the worst," he was quoted as saying Saturday.

Officials at the academy could not be reached Saturday.

It Has Begun - Obama Overturns Mexico City Policy And Begins Funding Overseas Abortions

http://www.nrlc.org/press_releases_new/Release012309.html

OBAMA ABORTION AGENDA LAUNCHED TODAY
with order promoting abortion in U.S. population-control program

WASHINGTON – President Obama today signs an order that will put hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars into the hands of organizations that aggressively promote abortion as a population-control tool in the developing world.

Obama's order overturns the "Mexico City Policy," under which funds in the U.S. "population assistance" program go only to overseas organizations that pledge not to "perform or actively promote abortion as a method of family planning."

Douglas Johnson, legislative director for the National Right to Life Committee (NRLC), commented, "This is the first in an anticipated series of attacks on longstanding pro-life policies, as the new administration pushes Obama's sweeping abortion agenda. That agenda includes repeal of the Hyde Amendment, which would result in tax-funded abortion as a birth control method in the U.S., and imposition of sweeping pro-abortion mandates on private employers through health-care reform legislation.

"One effect of Obama's order will be to divert many millions of dollars away from groups that do not promote abortion, and into the hands of those organizations that are the most aggressive in promoting abortion in developing countries. President Obama not long ago told the American people that he would support policies to reduce abortions, but today he is effectively guaranteeing more abortions by funding groups that promote abortion as a method of population control."

Contrary to some misunderstandings, enforcement of the Mexico City Policy did not reduce the amount of money spent on the program, nor will Obama's order increase the amount (which is $461 million in the current fiscal year). Rather, the policy affects what type of groups qualify for grants under the program. "Obama's order will predictably result in a redirection of funds to groups such as the International Planned Parenthood Federation, which are ideologically committed to the doctrine that abortion on demand must be universally available as a birth control method," Johnson said.

Although Obama's order will result in major subsidies for organizations that promote abortion overseas, the direct use of the U.S. funds to perform abortion procedures will remain unlawful under the Helms Amendment to the Foreign Assistance Act. "The Helms Amendment can be changed only by an act of Congress, but because the Obama Administration is joined at the hip with the abortion lobby, we will be watching carefully for any evidence that the Administration is failing to enforce the Helms Amendment," Johnson said.

The details of the Mexico City Policy are spelled out in an official handbook issued by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), which is available on request from NRLC (in PDF format). Basically, the policy required grantees to refrain from performing abortions (except to save the life of the mother, or in cases of rape or incest), or lobbying to legalize abortion, or otherwise promoting abortion as a family-planning method. The policy explicitly allowed responding to questions about where abortions may be obtained, in countries in which abortions are legal.

The National Right to Life Committee is the nation's largest pro-life group with affiliates in all 50 states and over 3,000 local chapters nationwide. National Right to Life works through legislation and education to protect those threatened by abortion, infanticide, euthanasia and assisted suicide.

News Story In on March for Life, and a Prayer for our Nation

http://content.usatoday.com/communities/religion/post/2009/01/61710146/1

Obama throngs replaced by March for Life crowds

Antiabortionxblog200Just as anti-abortion activists swarm into Washington on Thursday, President Obama may overturn a policy that bans federal funds to non-governmental organizations for use outside the USA for abortion and birth control services or referrals.

Or he may not.

Fox News says he will here. And CNN says he will here. But no one names a source. Terry Mattingly, who keeps an watchful eye on religion coverage at the Get Religion blog, thinks the mainstream media has fallen silent on a major story on the timing of the policy switch the same day as the annual March For Life -- a march by those who oppose the Supreme Court's Roe v. Wade decision to legalize abortion. But he doesn't name a source for the prospect of a switch, either.

Still, anyone can see hundreds of thousands of marchers pulling into town. Many are Catholic and conservative evangelicals, such as the president of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. They see the end of the ban -- a policy of Republican presidents since the Reagan administration announced it in Mexico City in 1984 -- as a road to more abortions.

March for Life activists are also concerned that Obama or the Congress will overturn the so-called "Conscience Rule," signed by former President Bush last month.

That rule allows anyone in the health system -- from a surgeon to a pharmacy cashier -- to decline to offer a service or treatment that violates their personal conscience. (More on that here.) When Bush signed it, the Family Research Council called the rule "an early Christmas present to pro-lifers ..."

But pro-choice activists also plan to make public statements this week. When the pro-life marchers arrive, they'll find print ads and radio ads saying the real way to fight abortion is to reduce demand.

The ads are sponsored by RealAbortionSolutions.org, which proposes "legislation that would advance the goal of abortion reduction by addressing the root causes." The ads, packed with baby pictures, call for supporting the health and welfare of pregnant women and new mothers and preventing unintended pregnancies. (However, the means of prevention may be off limits to those who see artificial contraception as another form of abortion.)

Do you think Obama should lift the Mexico City policy or overturn the "Conscience Rule?"

Photo by Alex Wong/Getty Images: Anti-abortion activists come to Washington yearly for the anniversary of the Supreme Court decision that legalized abortion. Bill Rosanelli of Montague, N.J. held this sign at the 2005 March for Life.

Heavenly Father, on this day we lift up to you each little life cut short by abortion. We lift up the marchers, who are out by the hundreds of thousands on this bitter cold day for those little precious children. We lift up Pres. Obama. Lord, we ask you to soften his heart. Make him aware of the precious gift of life he received... and how it is against Your perfect will to take a life, whether in the middle, beginning, or end of its days. That life is a gift and a blessing by You, not to be squandered nor thrown away.

Abba Father, pour out your Spirit on all the marchers, and all the politicians, and on each and every believer in this nation. Lord, turn our eyes to you. Let this be a time of revival and renewal. Help us to go forth with eyes open, that we may see the horrors of this act of abortion. That our hearts may be made vulnerable to this truth, that we may not just go forth today and every day in numbness.

Inspire us to action and prayer. Inspire us to speak out. Inspire us to love more and to live our lives for your glory.

Lord, help our nation as individuals and as a nation to repent of this evil, to repent of turning from You, and instead to turn fully to you this very day. That we may be one nation under God. That we recognize you once again as the origin of our rights, the Creator in our founding documents, who endowed us with certain inalienable rights, including life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Lord, on this day of the March for Life, let us honor the life you give.

Amen.

LIFE: IMAGINE THE POTENTIAL a pro-life ad for the inauguration

This ad will play during the inauguration.. including on BET. The message is powerful. And true.

Thank You, President Bush, for supporting the Culture of Life

As President Bush leaves office, I look forward with some dread, to the incoming President Obama in large part because I believe Obama on his promises to pass FOCA and to make abortion more accessible. And as I look to the future with some apprehension, I find myself all the more feeling grateful for the culture of life that President Bush upheld.

Each year President Bush spoke at the March for Life. Each year President Bush gave a proclamation for the National Sanctity of Human Life Day. And in so many small ways, he worked to save the lives of innocent little babies.

I have taken this list of accomplishments from the White House site. And I wanted to say thank you and may God bless you, Mr. President.

Promoting A Culture of Life

"In the debate about the rights of the unborn, we are asked to broaden the circle of our moral concern. We're asked to live out our calling as Americans. We're asked to honor our own standards, announced on the day of our founding in the Declaration of Independence. We're asked by our convictions and tradition and compassion to build a culture of life, and make this a more just and welcoming society."

- President George W. Bush, November 5, 2003

The Accomplishments

Building a Culture of Life

  • President Bush signed legislation to end partial birth abortion - a procedure the late Democratic Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan described as "as close to infanticide as anything I have come upon."
  • The President signed the Born Alive Infants Protection Act, which ensures that every infant born alive, including an infant who survives an abortion procedure, is considered a person under Federal law.
  • The President signed the Unborn Victims of Violence Act, which provides that under Federal law, any person who causes death or injury to a child in the womb shall be charged with a separate offense, in addition to any charges relating to the mother.
  • President Bush restored the Mexico City Policy, which states that taxpayer funds should not be provided to organizations that pay for abortions or advocate or actively promote abortion, either in the United States or abroad.
  • President Bush's 2005 budget includes $10 million to support maternity group homes for women in crisis.
  • In August 2001, the President announced his decision to allow medical research using embryonic stem cells while still respecting and upholding the value and sanctity of human life. This policy permits, for the first time, Federal funding of research using existing stem cell lines while not sanctioning or encouraging the destruction of additional live human embryos.
  • The President created the President's Council on Bioethics to study the human and moral ramifications of developments in biomedical and behavioral science and technology.
  • President Bush has called on the Congress to pass a law banning all human cloning.
  • States now have the option to provide vital health care services to promote healthy pregnancies for women and their unborn children who would otherwise be ineligible for coverage under the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP). States are also able to provide eligibility to unborn children of low-income immigrants, which results in access to important prenatal care.

This year, President Bush will not be speaking as president to the people at the march for life... but he has in each of the previous years. I wanted to share with you his message from last year, which marked the 35th Anniversary of Roe v Wade.

President Bush Speaks to March for Life Rally Participants
East Room

Jan 22, 2008 9:01 A.M. EST

THE PRESIDENT: Nellie, good to be with you -- we're fellow West Texans who care deeply about the value of human life. Other members of the board of directors for the March for Life, leaders of the pro-life community, and all those who are here with us for the march, it's good to have you here and welcome to the White House.

As I look out at you, I'll see some folks who have been traveling all night to get here -- -- you're slightly bleary-eyed. I'll see others who are getting ready for a day out in the cold. But mostly I see faces that shine with a love for life.

I see people with a deep conviction that even the most vulnerable member of the human family is a child of God. You're here because you know that all life deserves to be protected. And as you begin your march, I'm proud to be standing with you.

Thirty-five years ago today the United States Supreme Court declared and decided that under the law an unborn child is not considered a person. But we know many things about the unborn. Biology confirms that from the start each unborn child is a separate individual with his or her own genetic code. Babies can now survive outside the mother's womb at younger and younger ages. And the fingers and toes and beating hearts that we can see on an unborn child's ultrasound come with something that we cannot see: a soul.

Today we're heartened -- we're heartened by the news that the number of abortions is declining. But the most recent data reports that more than one in five pregnancies end in an abortion. America is better than this, so we will continue to work for a culture of life where a woman with an unplanned pregnancy knows there are caring people who will support her; where a pregnant teen can carry her child and complete her education; where the dignity of both the mother and child is honored and cherished.

We aspire to build a society where each one of us is welcomed in life and protected in law. We haven't arrived, but we are making progress. Here in Washington we passed good laws that promote adoption and extend legal protection to children who are born despite abortion attempts. We came together to ban the cruel practice of partial birth abortion. And in the past year we have prevented that landmark law from being rolled back.

We've seen the dramatic breakthroughs in stem cell research that it is possible to advance medical science while respecting the sanctity of life. Building a culture of life requires more than law; it requires changing hearts. And as we reach out to others and find common ground, we can see the glimmerings of a new America on a far shore. This America is rooted in our belief that in a civilized society, the strong protect the weak. This America is nurtured by people like you, who speak up for the weak and the innocent. This America is the destiny of a people whose founding document speaks of the right to life that is a gift of our Creator, not a grant of the state.

My friends, the time is short and your march is soon. As you give voice to the voiceless I ask you to take comfort from this: The hearts of the American people are good. Their minds are open to persuasion. And our history shows that a cause rooted in human dignity and appealing to the best instincts of the American people cannot fail. So take heart.

Take heart, be strong, and go forth. May God bless you.

Presidential Proclamation~National Sanctity of Human Life Day, Jan. 18, 2009

In one of his final actions in the White House, President Bush on Thursday declared Jan. 18 to be “National Sanctity of Human Life Day.”

National Sanctity of Human Life Day, 2009
A Proclamation by the President of the United States of America

All human life is a gift from our Creator that is sacred, unique, and worthy of protection. On National Sanctity of Human Life Day, our country recognizes that each person, including every person waiting to be born, has a special place and purpose in this world. We also underscore our dedication to heeding this message of conscience by speaking up for the weak and voiceless among us.

The most basic duty of government is to protect the life of the innocent. My Administration has been committed to building a culture of life by vigorously promoting adoption and parental notification laws, opposing Federal funding for abortions overseas, encouraging teen abstinence, and funding crisis pregnancy programs. In 2002, I was honored to sign into law the Born-Alive Infants Protection Act, which extends legal protection to children who survive an abortion attempt. I signed legislation in 2003 to ban the cruel practice of partial-birth abortion, and that law represents our commitment to building a culture of life in America. Also, I was proud to sign the Unborn Victims of Violence Act of 2004, which allows authorities to charge a person who causes death or injury to a child in the womb with a separate offense in addition to any charges relating to the mother.

America is a caring Nation, and our values should guide us as we harness the gifts of science. In our zeal for new treatments and cures, we must never abandon our fundamental morals. We can achieve the great breakthroughs we all seek with reverence for the gift of life.

The sanctity of life is written in the hearts of all men and women. On this day and throughout the year, we aspire to build a society in which every child is welcome in life and protected in law. We also encourage more of our fellow Americans to join our just and noble cause. History tells us that with a cause rooted in our deepest principles and appealing to the best instincts of our citizens, we will prevail.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, GEORGE W. BUSH, President of the United States of America, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and laws of the United States, do hereby proclaim January 18, 2009, as National Sanctity of Human Life Day. I call upon all Americans to recognize this day with appropriate ceremonies and to underscore our commitment to respecting and protecting the life and dignity of every human being.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this fifteenth day of January, in the year of our Lord two thousand nine, and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and thirty-third.

GEORGE W. BUSH

I don't expect we shall here anything like that from our incoming President. In fact, each accomplishment listed above will be overturned with one swipe of the pen when Obama signs FOCA into law.

Please, consider on this day that Pres. Bush has declared the National Sanctity of Human Life Day, to write your Congressmen to point out that we do not want the ban on partial birth abortion overthrown. We do not want our tax dollars to fund abortions. We do not want parental notification laws to be overthrown. We value life. This is a Consitutional responsibility... for our Government to protect life. [You can find contact info for your Congressmen right in my sidebar, as well as the link for the Fight Foca petition.]

Join with me this day in prayer for the unborn.

FOCA ~ A Time to Pray

The Freedom of Choice Act will be voted on in just more than a week... so that Obama can do as he promised, and make signing the Freedom of Choice Act his first act as president. Do you know what FOCA is?

FOCA would repeal all limits on abortion currently in place. It would repeal the ban on partial birth abortions. It would remove all parental notification laws. Repeal all waiting periods. Compel all hospitals to do abortions, even Catholic hospitals, which has decided to close all hospitals if necessary rather than to commit abortions.

Across the web, there are hundreds if not thousands of Catholics who will be praying a novena, prayer for 9 days, and even fasting. Praying that FOCA would not be passed. I am not Catholic. But I will be joining in in prayer.

If you have not signed the Fight FOCA petition, please do so. Over 350,000 people have so far. And please contact your Congressmen or women. You can find their contact information in the sidebar. Now is the time to act.

We say things are a matter of life or death all the time... well this time it is.

You can find out more at wikipedia, here. Even more details can be found here.

Abortion in the News, Christmas edition

At this time of year, when we celebrate the most Holy of births, the most precious of babes, our beloved Savior, it is hard to face the harsh reality of millions of precious children of God killed by abortion. The fact that we don't want to think about it does not change reality. Sadly it continues.. and it continues to be heralded by those who have no respect for God or life...and yet there are victories in this issue. Although our country chose a leader who will make abortion more common and widely available, there are positive stories also.

Christmas Caroling at Abortion Facilities

CHICAGO, December 19, 2008 (LifeSiteNews.com) - In a move which could be replicated in major cities across North America, the Pro-Life Action League will hold its sixth annual "Empty Manger" Christmas Caroling Day on Saturday, December 20. Two caroling tours will take place, one visiting four Chicago abortion facilities and one visiting four in DuPage County.

"The Christmas story is a story of hope and joy brought into the world by a newborn baby," said League communications director Eric Scheidler. "We want abortion-bound mothers in Chicago and the western suburbs to know that their unborn babies are a gift, too."

The League has saved babies from abortion in past years when their mothers heard the caroling.

"One mother told our counselor that hearing 'Silent Night' made her think about how Mary said yes to God - and then she couldn't go through with the abortion," said Scheidler.

Illinois Supreme Court Decision Supports Conscience Rights of Pharmacists

CHICAGO, Illinois, December 19, 2008 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Yesterday the Illinois Supreme Court ruled in Morr-Fitz v. Blagojevich that individual pharmacists and pharmacy owners do have legal standing to challenge a rule requiring them to dispense Plan B, which abortion activists call “emergency contraception,” regardless of their religious, moral, or conscientious beliefs.

The rule was originally forced upon the pharmacists and pharmacies by a 2005 emergency order of Governor Rod Blagojevich, who stated in no uncertain terms that pharmacists should either dispense the controversial drug or leave the profession. Two lower courts had previously ruled that the plaintiff-pharmacists and pharmacies did not have legal standing to challenge the rule.

In a 2006 State of the State address, Blagojevich expressed his intention to veto any bills that attempted to restore physicians’ conscience rights. "Now, I understand that several bills have been introduced that would overturn my executive order to protect women's reproductive freedoms,” he said. “So let me make something else very clear -- if any of those bills reach my desk, they are dead on arrival."

Also in 2006 he boasted to the Windy City Times about his record of denying pharmacists their conscience rights. “Think about what we’ve been able to do since I’ve been governor,” he said. “The reproductive freedoms of women are more protected in Illinois than any state in America. That’s in [stark] contrast to the advances and assaults coming from the Bush administration of Washington. We passed a law under my leadership to make insurance companies fill female contraceptives. Illinois had never done that before and we passed that law.”

Dr. Charmaine Yoest, Americans United for Life (AUL) President and CEO, responded to the Supreme Court decision, stating, “This is a huge victory for the freedom of conscience of all healthcare providers. Pharmacists now have proper recourse against a discriminatory law that would force them to check their constitutional rights at the workplace door.”

Mailee Smith, AUL Staff Counsel, noted, “Finally, an Illinois court got it right. If pharmacists and pharmacy owners don’t have standing to challenge a rule that unfairly targets them, who does? People should have legal recourse when the state attempts to circumvent and even eliminate their constitutional rights.”

A Collage of News Stories to Inspire You

Generally, I spend a greater amount of time sharing news stories that do not get much main street media attention... but with the Christmas preparations under way, I have done so much less of that. Even so there have been many stories of interest to me, so here are a few that have inspired me...

I Believe Too! Barbara at Mommy Life has shared an inspiring story of what one person can do. Perhaps you heard about the humanist group who put up ads questioning belief in God on ads all around DC? Well JoEllen Murphy of McLean County was a mom who had an idea of what to do. She created a new ad for buses. Be inspired... and maybe get involved. Read the story and how you can help here. Or visit her facebook page, I Believe Too.

We Remember The Mississippi Baptist Convention has completed its memorial to demonstrate all the babies killed since Roe v Wade. They have collected 50 million pennies, one for each baby lost. This is half a million dollars which they will use for the pro-life cause. Read more and see the impressive photo here.

Advertising Life There are wonderful ads out there, sharing truth about abortion, and they are making a difference!!! A new series will soon be aired on MTV. The ad is wonderful. That article and so much else can be found at LifeSiteNews.com

Giving a Gift of Death or LIFE In what I consider the saddest of Christmas ironies... Planned Parenthood in Indiana is offering gift certificates for Christmas gifts. These can be used for abortions. How sad on a day that we give gifts to one another to celebrate the BIRTH of Christ and God's offer through Christ of true life, that PP would offer gifts of death. Sigh. But, in response, the Pro-Life Action League is sharing how we can give gifts supporting life.

"The Pro-Life Action League is giving to this cause, too. To encourage donations to Option Line and remember the birth of baby Jesus, PLAL will give away copies of the book, "What Mary and Joseph Knew About Parenting" to the first 100 donors who give $42 or more between now and December 25. Forty-two dollars is enough to keep Option Line open and taking calls for half an hour -- helping at least 14 people in need or as many as 1,000 women if 100 people donate." (complete article)

Last Minute Bush Support of Pro-Life Cause

Last-minute Bush abortion ruling causes furor
Robert Pear

A last-minute Bush administration plan to grant sweeping new protections to health care providers who oppose abortion and other procedures on religious or moral grounds has provoked a torrent of objections, including a strenuous protest from the government agency that enforces job-discrimination laws.

The proposed rule would prohibit recipients of federal money from discriminating against doctors, nurses and other health care workers who refuse to perform or to assist in the performance of abortions or sterilization procedures because of their "religious beliefs or moral convictions."

It would also prevent hospitals, clinics, doctors' offices and drugstores from requiring employees with religious or moral objections to "assist in the performance of any part of a health service program or research activity" financed by the Department of Health and Human Services.

Of course... this is making a lot of people unhappy. Opponents call it unnecessary and even discriminatory. But to all of us who care deeply about the unborn, this is a victory... although I fear a shortlived one. I would be surprised if this was not overturned by Obama.... but I rejoice in this decision for today and pray for tomorrow.
