The American Holocaust- Part 1

I am an American!

I used this controversial title because if you were born in the US after 1972, one quarter to one third of your generation has been killed by abortion (depending on the year and source you believe.) The scale of this tragedy is almost beyond comprehension. And without doubt, it is one of the most important issues of today.

I believe that abortion is unconstitutional. Our Constitution recognizes certain rights for all humans. In our country’s early days we did not recognize African Americans (or for that matter Native Americans) as being fully human or worthy of the rights guaranteed by the Constitution. Those who believed slavery was wrong, including many of our founding fathers, felt that the practice needed to be continued because to end slavery would destroy the way of life for many people and create undue hardship. Stephen Douglass argued for slavery using these arguments: they are not people, they are property; it’s a personal choice; it’s a religious issue between man and his god. These arguments seem very similar to the arguments made today for abortion.

But, God's Word gives us a very clear view. Our Heavenly Father has declared that He makes us and knows us while in the womb, and that we are so very precious to Him.

For those who are not familiar with the Constitution's protection of life I have included the following sections.

5th Amendment No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the Militia, when in actual service in time of War or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offense to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.

And in case that wasn't clear, in the 14th Amendment it says again, "nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law."

Of course, we are all familiar with the Declaration of Independence which says, "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights; that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness."
