A Recent Poem

Well, really, I promise I will post on homeschooling more... soon. This is, at least in part, supposed to be a homeschooling blog. And I expected to write more on my day to day life, homeschooling, my kids, and my faith... but lately I have been drawing a lot on gimp and writing poetry.... sooooo... that might be my focus for a while.

In my earlier post I talked about learning gimp.... and posted a pic. That picture was actually done to accompany a poem I wrote recently. I thought I would post them together here.

Of Love and Of Pain

Butterflies flitting, flying around,
Drawn to the maiden that they'd found.
The forest held its breath, making not a sound,

Waiting and watching, held spellbound.

The girl with eyes fixed on some faraway place,
A tear slowly slid down, leaving silvery trace,

A glistening tear on an alabaster face,
Sorrow deeply etched upon beauty and grace.

Her heart was in tatters, bruised and torn.
Her true love slain on this cold autumn morn.
Yet as she sat feeling lost and forlorn,
Beauty from ashes, a baby soon born.

A child foretold in ancient prophesy,

The hope of a land yearning to be free,
Of a small kingdom held by cruel tyranny,
Out of love and of pain, the promised baby.

And strength she must find to continue today.
And words she must form, all she must say.
And travel she would to her land faraway.
But first she would wonder, and hope, and she'd pray.
