First 100 Days ~ Obama and the Spending of our Future

Over and over again, Obama promised to reduce the deficit and cut out of control government spending. That is .. until he became president. Now he says he will cut the deficit in half by 2013. That is a nice number trick. By his own numbers, he is telling the truth.. but the irony is.. that if you look at the graph.. the number he is cutting in half is HIS deficit spending of this year..which is 4 TIMES the amount of Bush's deficit. hmmmm Nice trick with numbers. With his more than cutting the deficit in half.. he will have increased the deficit. If you look at the Congressional Budget Office numbers, which have always been considered the gold standard, the deficit is even higher.

This spending is out of control.. and the lovely thing is, he is not done spending. We can look forward to more liberal spending and the expansion of government in the months and years to come. After all.. why not spend today what you can never pay for.. but bill the grandkids for? Right.

I look at the history of the deficit.. and I sigh. We are out of control. Whether Democrat or Republican we keep piling on new entitlements and new spending. Bush added several.. but when I look to the whole history of the deficit, and then to Obama's projected numbers.. I am worried. War spending ends. Military build up spending can end. Government entitlements rarely ever do.. they just keep piling up the bills higher and higher. Some of Obama's spending will end.. but the majority will be the gift that keeps on giving.. and giving.. and giving .. giving away our nation's future.
