The Spending Never Stops ~ Democratic Congress Propose Spending another $410B, While Obama Promises Tax Increases and Deficit Reduction

Well, well, well. It just gets better and better. As if the largest spending bill in history was not enough, Democrats have rushed to spend more money they don't have. First, the mortgage bailout plan and now another pork-laden spending bill. All the while, Obama promises to halve the deficit he inherited from Bush. His cuts include the military and a vague re-organizing of programs. The main source of fixing the deficit is increasing taxes, and rolling back Bush's tax cuts. So much for his repeated promise of tax cuts for 95% of Americans. Instead it is tax increases for all, and extra for businesses and the successful. Will the joy never end?

House bill to keep govt. running totals $410 billion, features thousands of pet projects

WASHINGTON (AP) -- House Democrats unveiled a $410 billion spending bill on Monday to keep the government running through the end of the fiscal year, setting up the second political struggle over federal funds in less than a month with Republicans.

The measure includes thousands of earmarks, the pet projects favored by lawmakers but often criticized by the public in opinion polls. There was no official total of the bill's earmarks, which accounted for at least $3.8 billion.

The legislation, which includes an increase of roughly 8 percent over spending in the last fiscal year, is expected to clear the House later in the week.


EDIT TO ADD.... I just read on Jill Stanek's blog that in this spending bill is an increase in "family planning" by 95.5 million to a total of $852million.
