Today and again on Wednesday, there will be a full page ad in the Chicago Tribune demanding proof of Obama's eligibility to be president. Personally, I don't know what the truth is behind this whole hullabaloo is. But I read that Obama is spending hundreds of thousands defending himself in lawsuits all across the nation, including 4 now up for review by the Supreme Court. It seems to me, that it would be much less expensive to just provide all requested documents and end the matter. I know that would be my response if I had nothing to hide. It seems that these records are nothing more than should be available in an administration that says it will be open and transparent. Then he could proceed forth with his presidency come January free from this controversy and many of the doubts about his legitimacy.
The ad itself is very interesting and deserves a read. The ad lists doubts of eligibility and a gives a request for quite a list of documents.
And the ad concludes with the statement that electors who do receive proof of Obama's eligibility but cast their electoral ballot for him are in fact committing treason. Whew.
This will be a week to watch. On the 5th, the Supreme Court will conference on whether or not they will hear the Donofrio case. Donofrio contends that neither Obama or McCain qualify as natural born citizens by law. He does not care about where Obama was born, but that because his father was a Kenyan citizen, obama was born a dual citizen of US and Britain therefore making Obama a naturalized citizen, not natural born. Videos on youtube can be found to spell out his compelling case. I am not sure I expect our Supreme Court to do anything. Given that the election is over, and there is no Constitutional provision for this situation, I think the government just wishes it would go away. As it stands, the electoral college meets on Dec. 15. After that Obama is truly the President elect, and any action would be even more difficult. But, it would be a true Constitutional crisis if after he is seated evidence comes out that he is not eligible.
